LCD needs to warm up?

With the cold temperatures lately, my monitor has been needing to warm up from a cold start up. When I turn on the computer, the monitor's backlight blinks on and off every five seconds. This goes on until it finally displays an image. The time it takes to actually display an image depends on the temperature of the room. In the mornings when the temperature is around 50 degrees, the monitor usually takes around two minutes to display anything, but in the afternoons it's displaying something in around 15 seconds.
I've searched around on Google for these symptoms but no one seems to experience a warm up time that correlates with the temperature. Might anyone know the cause or if it's a sign of imminent failure?
