Deleted emails in Outlook Express

edited January 2010 in Science & Tech
I am unable to delete several email in Outlook express. I keep getting a warning that I do not have enough memory.

I am running Windows Vista on the laptop.

You should look harder it's right beside the any key, unless you are on a laptop then it's the Fn+Any key.

Vista would indicate Windows Mail, not Outlook Express. Small difference. Have you cleared your deleted Items folder? Are you still getting the error? If so please reply with the exact error that is coming up.

Edit: I also came across this link that describes both Norton and McAfee Antivirus' being incompatible with Windows Mail.

You are right it is windows mail. The emails I cannot delete are in the deleted folder.
    Here is the exact warning

"Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again."

Do you run Norton or McAfee?

Go to Start -> Computer and right click on your C: drive and click properties, what shows as the free space?

Through that link I found this link:

    http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/62560-windows-mail-problems.html

Short of it: Norton is probably the problem. Disable email scanning to see if that helps. If not, Uninstall Norton to see if that helps. There is also mention of a HotFix Here. May be worth a try if you really want to keep Norton.

I would also suggest getting rid of Norton and use some other form of protection like Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast. Norton is really more trouble then it's worth.
