NEW nForce audio v4.08 / v4.09
Some new nForce audio drivers have been made available. These new drivers have appeared as part of a slightly modified nForce driver package (v3.13) by ABIT. Please bear in mind these drivers should be considered Beta and are not officially supported by Nvidia.
UPDATE: It also appears an even newer nForce audio driver version, v4.09, is now available via Windows Update.
[blockquote]So far, I can pick these 2 important fixes over 3.75s immediately:
1. The Left-Right channels are correctly Balanced
This can be tested in 375 by dropping volume on all channels except frontLeft, make sure you environmental effects are diabled (choose No Effect). Now, play audio through the WaveOut renderer (where its most obvious) using 2Speakers in SoundStorm and then as you set 4 or 6 and you will see a noticable drop in volume only on this Left channel.
2. Unlike 375s 6 Channel Audio can now be played through WaveOut, without having to force it through DirectSound, where Rear and Center channels are usually much lower.
To Test this, play SSWAV06.WAV (in AudioUtil Dir) through Winamp Wave Output.

No, you were right, the drivers on the Windows Update site are new, and they carry a version of 4.09. It's perfectly normal for the date on the driver to be a few weeks old.
