Kind of an interesting article. Nothing super insightful, but it might kickstart an interesting discussion.

The Lich King is dead, long live the Lich King.

meaning that we have at least six months, maybe as long as nine months, before any new content is released. For the majority of WoW players, that's devastating news.

Not really. It's pretty much standard fare for Blizzard prior to the launch of the expansion. The same was true of Burning Crusade before the launch of WotLK, and server pops didn't drop a bit. People were scrambling to prepare themselves for the xpac with mats, better gear, more money, etc. etc.

This article, I feel, doesn't adequately capture the condition of the game. It's more sensationalist than it is realistic.

Rob pretty much hit the nail on the head here - sure, the Lich King is dead - but how long will it be before the common player has killed him? Or even seen him in Icecrown Citadel?

For most players, they won't have experienced the content until months from now, and it'll be months more before they've acquired enough ICC level gear to attempt the hard mode version of the zone.

This article is obviously written by someone who has no grasp on the reality of content progression.

Well it will be ICC gear and the added buff they plan to apply to the raid to make it easier over time.

I'm sure they will nerf ICC numorous times before the xpac, like everything else in WoW land

well its not a direct nurf to bosses, but a buff you get when you go into the raid instance.

Keep in mind that Blizzard has also stated there will be at least one more minor content patch before the pre-Cataclysm patch (the patch that comes a week or two before Cata launches that lets us play with our new talents). MMO-Champion touched on it briefly yesterday. It's all speculation what it will be at this point but it sounds like we'll get some little something to keep us busy between ICC and Cata.

So to bring this back a bit from the past. While my guild has had 10m LK dead for awhile. For the first time we killed LK in 25man. So he has been out and accessable but for the majority of players they have still yet to see him dead. My guess is only 10% of people on each server have actually killed LK in 25man content.

So for the hard core current content feels dry but the bulk of players are still plugging away. RS was a nice addition but it was easy to conquer once the basics were known. The nice thing about RS is it provided some fun with trash pulls, as it has been a long time since we have had to use CC on trash.
