Got giving a labtop with a problem

I got a labtop giving to me and was told it doesn't work.
The labtop is a Dell Latitude D530 with XP Home
sp3 and 2048.00 memory.
So what to do, time to play. So after using a different power
supply it fired up. One for me lol, but knew that was to easy.
it had a password and I didn't have it so I used "Offline NT
Password & Registry Editor, Bootdisk / CD" I used this a few times
and knew it worked and it did. I was able to log on, But here's the
problem. I am logged in as admin and I couldn't get the internet to
work so I figture back it up to an earlier time and see what happens.
But when I tried system restore it said" system restore has been turned
off by group policy. To turn on system restore, contact your domain
Administrator" So I say ok I'll play with that later. I tried the
antivirus but it didn't work the hour glass on my cursor comes on
for a second and go away and nothing happen. So I went ok I have away
around that. I put BitDefender Rescue CD in and rebooted and let it
do it thing and than let it fixed what it found and than rebooted again.
Than tried to install spy-bot and malwarebytes anti-malware and tried
to run each of them and again hour glass and nothing. Than tried
hijackthis again same thing All the programs installed but don't work.
So what do I try next. The labtop is a Dell Latitude D530 with XP Home
sp3 and 2048.00 memory. I tried to reinstall the OS and it does the
windows setup and loads files than goes to setup is starting windows and
just stays there after an half hour I took the disc out and tried to
put Ubuntu and well it gets to loads the kernel than the nxt screen
where you see Ubuntu and the bar going back and fourth than error out.
I tried to fdisk the drive using a thumb drive and nothing.
When I try to load windows in safe mode I get a blue sreen with this
error stop:0X0000007B(0xF8A6524,0XC0000034,0X00000000,0X00000000)
oK,I checked it out and found it's a virus. So than I tried to
go into task manger and tried to shut down things and I get to
seekdns.exe and seekdns135.exe and can't shut them down. Going by what
I read online they are keeping from opening the programs I want to
to fix it. I tried to regedit and what ever won't let it run. I
don't have another hard drive to put in so now I'm stuck
