Question about Call of Pripyat

Can anyone who has already grabbed S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat answer a question for me?

If I install Call of Pripyat, will it add the engine enhancements to the original campaign (which I'm still working through)? For example, the release notes say that it ads the ability to sleep; would I be able to do that now, even if I'm not starting in on the new content yet?

CB, though I cannot speak for CoP, I am nearly certain that it will not add the functionality to vanilla STALKER.

This was the case with Clear Sky. The graphics engine was improved, but those improvements would not be applied to the original game.

I would love to see that implemented in the original game, but I think your only options are mods like Oblivion Lost or Float32.

    I feel silly:

Because of the way it was marketed on Steam, I thought CoP was an Expansion pack for SoC. I see now that it's a totally new and separate sequel, so of course it wont have an effect on the first game...

Well, Clear Sky I believe originated as an expansion pack before they moved it to full-blown sequel. CoP was supposed to be more of the full blown sequel from the start.

How do you like Shadow of Chernobyl, CB? I followed that game for years and was really excited to finally play it at its release. I was bummed, they removed a lot of the deeper RPG elements from the original game design, but I absolutely loved the atmosphere and visual style of the game. I love reading about the Chernobyl disaster, so to see it and Pripyat virtually was really awesome for me. I read that Call of Pripyat is supposed to be close to the true STALKER experience we were supposed to get out of SoC.

It's fun. I hadn't read much about it going in, and I thought it was a straight FPS, so I've been pleasantly suprised with the few RPG elements I have encountered.

CoP is a standalone game, you may have been lead to think otherwise because there is a deal on Steam that allows you to buy CoP for 20USD if you already own Clear Sky or Shadow of Chernobyl purchased via Steam while other customers have to pay the full price. This is what Steam says:
Buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Loyalty Promo

Loyalty Promo grants a discount off Call of Pripyat if you already own the Steam Version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. Please note that you need to have Clear Sky or Shadow of Chernobyl registered to your Steam account before purchasing Call of Pripyat to receive the discounted price.
I'm actually thinking of getting the game, the price is very tempting even if I'm currently very busy with the Battlefield BC2 beta :)
