Pioneer DVD-116r not seeing CDs or DVDs

Sony VAIO with Windows XP, SP3. Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-116R installed. New hardware is found and is listed under CD/DVD drives in hardware list. Does not see CDs or DVDs at all. All the ones I tried read in another DVD drive in another computer.

Tried finding the driver on the internet with no luck. CMOS has DVD set to Auto for device type. Tried CD-ROM and Other ATAPI device with no luck.

What do I do?
