make fonts bigger :D

edited February 2010 in Science & Tech
hey guys ,
i'd like some help with a font that i have
it's a rather small text . and before you guys go off about saying just make it bigger by changing the size , i'd like it to be universally bigger in all programs that use fonts .
so what i mean is , is there a way i can make the default 10 size appear as a 16 size font ??
thanks :D

You could always set your system DPI higher; that would make everything bigger. Which OS are you running? Win7 has it under screen resolution -> make text bigger or smaller. XP might have it more hidden... I don't recall, but the Googles should help.

Inside the "Make text and other items larger/smaller" dialog in display properties, there's a separate "set custom text size (DPI)" option that should only adjust text.

I think you mean you want to change the size of a specific font across all programs, without changing the size of other fonts.

There is no way to do that without making a new font from scratch...

Check out this program on Downloads.com as a possible free solution.

I haven't used this myself, as the last time I made any fonts was under Win3x, but downloads.com (which is run by cnet) is very reliable, and this is the one with the best score. You only get a 30-day trial, but if you only need it for this one project that might be enough.

If this one doesn't do what you need just do some searching around for other font editors or font creators. Just make sure to get them from trustworthy sites, like downloads.com, to avoid malware. If you're not sure if a site is trustworthy, just ask, and we'll let you know. :)
