new desktop, advice on wireless adaptor

edited March 2010 in Hardware
just about to order a dell inspiron 570 and was looking for a little advice on what wireless adaptor to buy. I have a router which i use my laptop with, and it gives good speed (4600kbps), will the adaptor dictate the download speed as my son will want internet use on the desktop.

You can buy USB, PCIEx1 or PCI wireless adapters for Inspiron 570. The PCIEx1 and PCI adapters are installed inside the computer and USB just plugs to one of the USB ports externally. So, USB is easier to install and more convenient. Although USB adapter might have a little performance penalty (and I do not use for that reason), 4600 kbps is not that critical to see the difference. Overall I would recommend a USB adapter for practical reasons.
I would recommend Linksys WUSB600N and BUFFALO WLI-UC-GN USB 2.0 Nfiniti

just checking the specs for the WLI-UC-GN USB 2.0 Nfiniti and see it is compatible with windows xp and vista, what about windows 7 which the new laptop has preloaded? if it isn't compatible can you suggest 1 which is,
    Thanks
