Till now, I only knew Elpida as "that chipmaker that has RAM that doesn't work in my Eee PC 900". Picked up Kingston-branded memory that had Elpida chips. No go.

And now I know them as "that chip maker that is being sued". I feel kind of bad for them. Sometimes patents can be hard to look out for, I imagine.

Elpida is one of the world's premiere high-performance DRAM makers. They're not as big as Samsung, for example, but they made one of the most legendary DDR ICs in history, the Elpida Hyper series. They were some of the first chips to hit DDR3-1866 and DDR3-2000 speeds, and are still quite good.

Through a partnership with Rexchip, they make more mundane fare, but Elpida is some good stuff.

Professor Dr. Eul must have a lot of schooling. Impressive double title.
