exactly what do i need to join wow?

My son is getting a desktop for his b.day and i know he'll enjoy the WOW game (he loves Oblivion IV elder scrolls on his xbox 360) i've seen the game for £4.99 on amazon but was wondering what else i need. Do you have to pay a monthly subscription to play it? if so how much?:confused:

    The best value to start will be the Battle chest with original WoW and the Burning Crusade expansion.
    To get started, all you need is regular WoW, but that will stop at Level 60, Burning Crusade, and then Wrath of the Lich King expansions will be needed to reach the top Level (80) in the current game.

    Since WoW is actually played online on a server, yes there is a monthly subscription. If you pay month to month, it is 14.99, if you pay 3 months at a time, it is 13.99, 6 months at a time, 12.99.

    For what it's worth the play in WoW is nothing like the play in Oblivion. There are some similarities, but it's a totally different beast. Like equating solitaire to poker because they both use cards in some similar ways.

    If he enjoys Oblivion then I'd suggest getting a game like Fallout 3. You should be able to pick up Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition (several expansions) for fairly cheap and it requires no monthly fees.
