Dual Graphics card with Asus M3A78-T

Hey all, got a quick question.
I have an Asus M3A78-T (heading back to RMA again lol), and the specs say it can do dual graphics in either Dual x8 or Dual x16/x4. I just got an XFX HD 5770 and was considering picking up one more for crossfire, but wasnt sure if I should replace the board first, or if I would benefit from it now enough to merit buying the second card now and waiting on the board. I wasn't able to find info on the performance changes from single x16 to dual x8, but I'm sure someone here knows or can point me to it.

thanks!

    You'll lose about 6-10% with x8/x8 over x16/x16.

So still much better than the single card. I may have to go snag another card in a couple weeks. I went from a BFG GeForce 285OC to the single 5770 because I thought that it was the video card that was broken, since the mobo had just gotten back from RMA. Looks like they didn't fix the PCI-E slot or something down there. Sending it back tomorrow, hopefully it comes back 100% this time.
