Which router is it ?? :)

Most routers these days have filters, so you can block internet access for her PCs specific IP address. This shouldn't affect the internal networking, as the switches built into routers do the networking exchange.

Dig out the manual / download the .pdf version from the manufacturers website.. there will be a section on it or tell us the brand & model number :)

Basicly, to block someone from browsing, you block ports 80 and 8080. The easiest way, is for your LAN to be fixed IP, and then you can block your lil sis's LAN IP from using ports 80 and 8080.

Note that FTP can be other ports, need not use port 80 or port 8080. Printing IS normally not on port 80 or port 8080 either.

Doing it otherwise will mean you have to config your lil sis's machine's network settings also. In theory you could block her MAC address from using ports 80 and 8080 if the router will let you do that, but that gets complex.

There is one other way, and again it depends on router. It is possible with some routers to require authentication to use a port.... THEN, you would have to use a password to get onto the internet also, and unless she knew the PW also she could not get through the router to the internet.

Think about this, though, she might raise holy cain if you did any of this stuff.... Unless your parents agreed it was needed or you yourself were paying for the internet access. If she is doing a lot of Kazaa and Morpheus stuff, then you could block the morpheus and kazaa ports if you want no-one to use those, but that woudl block all users from doing this. Some routers will also let you schedule, but unless you set up a fixed IP LAN you cannot limit only one machine from using internet as DHCP can change the IPs each machine in the LAN's IP dynamicly adn without warning.
