sptd Help

Yea Im a real noob at this i dont even know if this is the right forum for this but any help is appreciated
So i was in my Device Manager and saw that Sptd had a ! on it sooo i know thats not good i click properties and it said it stopped so i pressed start but then it says


The System Encountered the Following error While attempting to start the service.

A device attached to the system is not operating.

Um I dont know what this will do to my system or if its bad or something no need to worry about but i would gladly accept any help

    We need a lot more information to help. What kind of system is this? What motherboard, etc?

    You were in device manager or in the Services snap in?

    What is "sptd"? is that the only description of the device?

    Sptd is a Non-Plug and Play Drivers everything else is unknown. The Description is ( This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)

    By the looks of things, this is a laptop?

    I need to see a screenshot of Device manager.

    Yes it is a laptop its a HP G70

    sptd stands for SCSI Pass-through direct.

    If you're running Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, or PowerArchiver Pro I would suggest uninstalling, rebooting and installing the latest version of the software as a first step. If you don't use any of those software packages then it's probably not a big deal that the service isn't working.
