Problems with 'print screen'

I used to take screenshots of applications that I use, paste them into MS Paint and save them in .jpg format.

Recently I've just bought a new PC, running in Windows 7 Home Premium x64-bit. When I tried to take screen captures of full-screen applications with the 'Print Screen' key, it turns out that a snapshot of the desktop will be taken. I've done screen captures quite a lot and it's worked fine so far, even on Windows Vista Home Premium, until my new PC came along. Could this be an OS problem? Or is there something wrong with my keyboard or....?

Someone help?

if you use just the print screen button it takes a picture of everything on your desktop if you do alt+print screen it will just take a picture of the targeted window. However Windows 7 has an even better tool built in called the Snipping Tool which you can find in start>all programs>accessories by default

the matter here is not that i can't take screenshots. The problem is that I can't take a screenshot of any fullscreen application that I'm at. For example, say I'm playing Football Manager, and I wanna take a screenshot. Usually all I'd need to do is to hit the 'Print Scr' button, then Ctrl+v it onto paint and save it as a .jpg file. I can still do it now, but the screenshot is a screenshot of my desktop instead of what was shown in the game.

sounds like a problem with that application. Can you say take a screen shot of a browser session or some or an office document etc...

Ok so you mean like a game or something and not say just IE running in full size. Yeah - that's normal.
