I haven't use Aperture so I can't make much of a comparison, but I have seen some demo's. I'm not impressed with Aperture from the demos I've seen, it's great for hobbyist photographers; but, Lightroom seems to be a better overall workflow and cataloging tool for advanced amateur and professional photography, I'm excited to tryout beta 2's video features. I hope it's a big leap forward from beta 1.
I should also not Aperture is MAC only so PC fans are out of luck.
Lightroom is a HELL of a workflow tool. It's everything you need for photography refining, and just a little bit of things you don't. I'm still uncovering useful bits. It's the best workflow tool I own.

I've never used Lightroom. How's it compare to Aperture?
