XP to USB

edited April 2010 in Science & Tech
Okay so i have a windows xp computer that wont let me login, everytime that i try to login it says " the application has failed to start because WININET.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." What i wanted to do was put my windows xp disk onto my usb drive and try and repair windows because my cd drive is no good. My harddrive does support it an i set it all up in the bios. My problem is everytime i try an extract my cd i get errors. How can I extract my cd and succesfully put it on a usb so i can defeat the task at hand?

When it comes to run the command program it automatically closes and won't let me go further.

Does your xp CD have at least service pack 2 as part of it, if not service pack 3? It's possible that you are missing some critical drivers that are required to detect your OS.

It is a genuine windows xp cd with service pack 2, i mean the computer starts up shows the window logo but when i go to log in it wont let me, i believe my son tried deleting ieexplorer.. and well now things are messy.
