I managed to get a FirePro v8700 for $500 for my new workstation build. I still think I got a good deal but I'd like to see what kind of performance triple the cost might have netted me (if I had that kind of dosh.)

Wow, Now if they can only get something on the market that can compete with CUDA. Nvidia's got it made with Adobe CS5 and GPU acceleration; since the new mercury playback engine for Premiere is CUDA only.

I expect Nvidia will be announcing new Quadro GTX cards based on Firmi within the year to "catch up" to AMD's new FirePro line up.

Looking forward to the analysis. I'm sure the tester of this card is going to have a hayday seeing what kind of 3D rendering and simulation prowess this card has in 3D software. Like, oh, say, XSI SoftImage. :D
