Should I start playing Starcraft?

I was wondering if I should start playing Starcraft. I was thinking of trying SC2 when it comes out, and I thought it'd help if I had some background in the game by trying SC first.

I've played a lot of WoW but got burned out on it and have hardly touched it in the last month. I may or may not go back to it more. Right now I'm playing as much Halo 2 as I can before Microsoft screws up Xbox Live forever by dropping support for the older games.

I played a little Zero Hour a while back, but my version didn't have online multiplayer capability.

If I did, I'd run it on my main PC, but since the system requirements are so low I might try putting it on my old Dell Latitude CPi-A 366XT 366 P2 256 MB XP Home laptop just to see how well it'll work on that 11 year old laptop.

Starcraft is certainly something you should try to get hold of.
I, personally, find it quite hard but that's because I basically never play RTS games. You can get a double pack with SC + BW in, and it shouldn't cost you a lot, so try to get hold of it.

Short answer yes. Long answer hell yes! You can find a battle chest at any and I mean any Best Buy for 20USD and on Steam for just as much.

    It's not on Steam :confused2
You can get it as a download (and maybe physical copy) from the Blizzard store, but it's not on Steam.

I swear I've seen it on there before. Maybe I'm just crazy though.

I really love the first 4 C&C plus the whole RA series but have played SC all the way through and don't really like it. You might not like it because of the difference in play from C&C to SC, that is if you are particular about your RTS games.
