Do I need 64 bit OS to take advantage of 64 bit software

I noticed that Adobe CS5 is available for pre-order now. I also noticed that Indesign has 64-bit support. I should definitely know this answer but, alas, I do not. So, do I need to be running a 64-bit operating system to take advantage of the 64-bit capabilities in the Adobe suite? (windows xp 32, btw)

    argh... migration to 64-bit environment this decade... highly unlikely :grumble:
