Is it possible to burn a Recovery Partition onto a DVD and boot from that?

I was just wondering if it's possible to burn a Recovery Partition onto a DVD and then boot from that so as to reinstall XP. Currently I have the recovery stuff on a flash drive; is there a way to boot directly from there? If so, how? The recovery stuff is about 2.5GB. I also have a 2002 eMachine recovery disk, but my key doesn't work since my current OS is from around 2004-05. The thing about it though is that it boots up identically as my recovery partition with some PC Angel software program that gives 2 options A.) Destructive Option that reformats and restores or B.) just repairs and restores.

Would there be a way to modify that boot disk, burn the partition onto a DVD or boot from USB? Thanks!
