What are the correct settings for 2800+ Barton?

I currently have a 2800+Barton set at 200FSB with a multiplier of 10.5. I am using pc3200 ddr set at 400mhz. I am waiting on a new hsf from newegg, but until then I am reading about 55C/ 62C with full load. I am worried that this is a bad area to be in and I'm going to do some damage. I have read that the fsb for my proc is 333. Is this correct? On my reciept (just noticed) it says 166FSB. What gives? What setup should I go with until I get a my new HSF? I am trying to reach the advertised 2.08 speed only for now.

    The CPU you bought is a 166*13.6=2.25Ghz from what said about being a 166MHz CPU. The 2.08 GHz 2800+ is a 200FSB version. You have the 166.

    60s are getting up there. More than what I would want to run at.

    Just so I understand...the "Barton" at the end means I bought the crappy one? I guess I should have done my homework. Also, if I have my ram set at 400, is that ok or will it only run at 333?

    IMO you have a good processor ...Barton = good.
    Tell us more about your motherboard and bios settings, case and other specs please.
    Also list you voltage settings.

    Marc, you'e getting confused with the XP3000+, which has been released both in 200 fsb and 166 fsb parts. The XP2800+ Bartons have only been released in 166 fsb speed.

    al shizzle, if you are running at 200 fsb speed with a 10.5 multi, then you are technically overclocking the processor due to the fact that the fsb speed is higher than spec, even though you have the multiplier backed down to where the processor is running around it's rated speed. This really doesn't mean crap as far as heat goes though as it's heat output should be roughly the same as stock, assuming that you haven't raised the vcore volts up from the stock setting.

    As csimon said, give us some more information on your setup such as motherboard, power supply and present hsf. If your mobo is an A7N8X and you are reading a cpu die temp of 62 C with motherboard monitor, that's not too bad. If it's a mobo such as the NF7-S that reads the temp from a socket thermistor, then that is getting quite hot; too hot IMO. If it seems like it's running too hot for you to deal with, then you might try reseating the hsf while using a premium thermal paste such as Arctic Silver 3 or 5. If that doesn't work, then you might try undervolting the proc by dropping the core voltage down to say 1.625v or 1.60v and see if you are still stable. That will definitely drop a lot of heat if your proc will run with lower volts and will keep you running until the new hsf gets to you.

    BTW, what kind of new hsf did you order?:)

    Marc, the only 2800+ that was released in 13.5x166 was a TBred-B core 2800+, released in VERY small numbers.

    The 2800+ Barton uses a 166 FSB and a 12.5X multi for stock operation.

    if im running it at 100 is it underpowered?

    im not sure what settings it should be set to.. 100/133/166/200 are my only options

    A stock 2800+ Barton runs a 166fsb x 12.5 multiplier = 2083Mhz
