Server Migration

I'm planning to move Icrontic to a new server soon, possibly over this weekend. There will be some downtime involved as DNS updates. I'll try to give advanced warning.

If you have server access for images or whatever, don't add anything new to the server unless you keep a backup :) The only directories that will be getting backed up again between now and the migration are the Wordpress uploaded files.

More details to follow, but the gist is that it'll be a nice memory and storage boost along with getting some on-demand support to improve stability. It's a Good Thing™

    Not to mention some serious flexibility for Icrontic to scale outwards as traffic keeps increasing ;)

    We're at 100% - htaccess issue fixed. I pray we don't crash come the morning throngs. :D

    That picture of Linc reminds me of some of my coworkers after long shifts... or during snow storms... except they're usually under their desk not in the middle of the floor.

    Farnsworth abandoned me :( He was camped on my extended arm when I passed out.

    In addition to fixing minor bugs since the migration, I've also:
    • Re-enabled forum attachments (was disabled due to HD size constraints)
    • Re-enabled related posts on Wordpress (was disabled due to performance)
    • Re-enabled several administrative plugins (was disabled due to performance)

    We're running at full power; now to see how it holds up when the next article blows up. :)

    Welcome to the cloud, even if the current hardware can't handle the next article blowing up, you can scale the server up in place and back down when the traffic falls off ;)
