My dad is having me upgrade his 3000+ and A7N board whice are transefering to me and so on to a 3400+ Athlon 64 withthe Abit board. As my folding duty I said " I will not build this pc UNLESS it folds deal?" he agreed and so the parts have been ordered and will be here tuesday! So Angel_Heather will be having some 64bit power coming! :celebrate:

Now i gotta make a choice. Keep my 3500 KHX or take his corsair XMS 3200 platinim series!

The other day NewEgg had Mushkin PC3500 Level 1 (2-3-3 or 2-2-3) 1GB (2x512MB) for $199. I think it might have been an error because I checked the next day and it was gone. So either the error was fixed, or that deal was jumped on like white on rice.

Anyway, I only mention this because if it wasn't an error (though I'm pretty sure it was) then keep an eye on NewEgg for the Mushkin!!!

So, if his Corsair or your KHX has yet to be ordered then look out for the Mushkin. If you currently have both in your posession then nevermind.

Try both out and see which will run the highest speed with the lowest timings, then keep that.:D

Keep the Corsair away from the Athlon 64 rig. It has a mountain of stability issues at the moment.

Read up on memory modules that will and won't work with the A64 :)

Ps.. Enverex and I beat you to it.. we are the first Athlon 64 folders for Team93 :p

Is yours finally running OK Shorty? I know that you had some 'setup issues'.

Barton 3000+ to A64 3400+ seems a bit pointless to me. Why is he upgrading?

As long as they are both folding who cares?
Of course the 3000 is about the end of the road for Barton. The new setup will have some further upgrade potential.
I just wish that I could afford to follow.

The original board (Biostar nForce3) was terribly unstable.. so I replaced it with an MSI (Via KT800) and all is good :)

My problem component wasn't memory or DDR like I thought it was. It was related to a three year old highpoint RAID card that just isn't compatible with either chipset :(

Gonna have to wait till I can afford some SATA drives I can RAID :)
