windows xp reboot while loading

edited July 2010 in Science & Tech
Just got a virus that causes windows xp to turn off, start, reboot and when it gets to almost loading, turns off and keeps up the cycle. Cannot get into recovery console as my password has been forgotten. Anyone got any ideas? I can read the entire hard drive when connected to my other pc with an adapter box.

Is your power button sticky? That seems like the logical solution...

And if you've "forgotten" your PW then use your "Password Recovery Discs"...

There's other way around "forgotten" passwords but I'm not willing to divulge them to you...

Best way to recover a forgotten password in XP: http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

Use this to blank the password for the account in question. There is an option to actually change the password but I recommend against using it as it has a tendency to not work properly. Just blank it, then set a new password when (if?) you get back into Windows. Please note, any files that you have encrypted using Windows tools will be unrecoverable. There is no way around this (aside from actually remembering your password).
