Can't Access Microsoft or Windows Related Sites or Updates.

Hi guys.

New to the forum and really hoping you could help me with this question.

I've been trying to update my blackberry, update, install windows live for the past couple nights and I was given messages to check i was connected to the internet. Obviously I was connected and could access any other site and download anything else.

I reinstalled Windows XP Pro because I felt it was about time. After reformatting and installing everything I still cannot access windows updates etc. I've tried on Firefox and IE, I notice that if I use a proxy on Firefox I can get onto Microsoft.com :mean:

Today I installed a new Belkin wireless router I had to see if that was solve my problem but it hasn't. I'm assuming something is wrong with my netbook's settings but I have no idea where to start. I've checked the hosts file and it's fine. On any other computer I can access microsoft.com

If you could offer any remedies I'd greatly appreciate it.

    First of all if you aren't running a legitimate fully activated and legal copy of XP that's the most likely reason you aren't able to do updates. Especially considering you've done a clean install.

    That's what I was about to ask: Is this a normal, licensed copy of Windows XP?
