"Quad core 3.4GHz" means nothing. Give specific chips to compare or we're hamstrung.

The Core i7 and the Core 2 Quad are both quad core CPUs. The two CPUs you have selected will be roughly the same speed.

you linked a 3.0ghz Q9650 LGA775 and a 2.8ghz i7-930 LGA1366
hell, for that price range we can throw in a i7-875K LGA1156 at 2.93ghz, which just happens to be
UNLOCKED
