Getting past an injury, neck pain...

I've put on a couple of pounds in the last two weeks, just not really able to work out to potential dealing with some neck pain that runs down the top of my neck to my trapezius on the left side.

I saw a chiropractor that took x rays and felt that I might have some chronic problems that need to be addressed, but he can't see me again until the 19th. I am going to see a regular physician today.

Its pretty tough, I wake up every morning stiff and unable to really stretch or move until I spend about half an hour working out the kinks, and then it hurts, but at least I can turn a bit.

Anyone have good suggestions on an exercise I might be able to try, or maybe an over the counter supplement, or nutrient that might help me recover? Its really be nagging me for two weeks now. Icy Hot, Bio Freeze and Tylenol are only doing but so much.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Glucosamine? I know it's really great for joint lubrication but I've mostly heard that from runners who are pretty much only concerned with their knees.

I'd say check out a sports medicine specialist with physical therapy on site. They will look at you from the mindset of getting you moving functionally again, whereas a GP will use the default mindset of managing your pain through drugs and a chiropractor will look at getting a customer for life.

I had a similar neck pain last year and lasted about a month. Even turning my head while driving to check the traffic was slow and painful. I used Bengay cream and ThermaCare heat wraps. They helped but did not suppress the pain completely. I also suggest seeing a medical doctor first. Get well soon.
