Cannot Access Router Configuration

Hi, i have an xbox 360 with a crappy conection. i was reading on the internet that i could open my lan settings or something. so i was following this guide to fix it when it told me to type in 192.168.1.1 they said it was the liinksys website to setup your router. but everytime i type in the adress it wont work an tells me it is unable to acess the webpage. can anybody help me or tell me how to do this.

    What router do you have?

    What is your IP scheme?

    Open a command prompt and type "ipconfig" then copy that info here.
