Killing OpenSolaris and suing Google over Java. I think it's time we start seriously looking at our MySQL alternatives.

I'd rather use flat text files than use an Oracle-owned stack.

Sounds like more of Larry Ellison's "Everyone Else Must Fail" sales philosophy. Nothing that shouldn't be expected from Oracle.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm a PostgreSQL guy, and I'd be happy to help there. I've got a PgSQL guest here doing not much anyway.

I run several small web sites using Wordpress as CMS. Wordpress is open source, but it relies on MySQL. If Wordpress was to move to a MySQL alternative, so would I, and gazillions of bloggers and small web site admins with me.

In general, the computer software business model is the the most f****d up enterprise on the planet currently. It's like hungry Tigers eating their young.

I'm surprised I haven't seen an article about Oracle suing Google on Icrontic yet. Oracle has officially made my list of companies I loathe, just below SCO and above Apple.
