outlook serach contacts

edited August 2010 in Science & Tech
hey guys ,
im having a problem with outlook . when i start typing a name into the TO: field all i get is a small list of names . for example , if i type in " j " all i get is " john " and " jeriel " . i want it to display all the contact emails that start with " j " . another thing i noticed is when i wanted to search through my contact list it gives me only two options , search name or more columns . is there a way for outlook to search through both names and emails instead of one or the other ? im running outlook 2007 .
thanks :)

When you start typing in the "To" field in Outlook it's doing a search of a special file, not your entire contact list. The file it's searching is populated with new addresses as you send them an email. For example if you've never sent "John Doe" an email his address will not show up when you type 'j' into the "To" field. However, once you've sent any email at all to "John Doe" he will start showing up in the field.
