Laptop cooling
So i'm looking for a laptop lap fan thing. Now a while back i remember reading an article saying it would be best to have a fan that doesn't plug into the usb port because the computer is just working harder to cool. Also i believe it said a fan that draws out hot air rather than put cool air in which would cause the mixing of hot and cool air. It all sounded reasonable to me, so I'm just wondering what you guys have for suggestions on this. Whats my best bet to get?

Has anyone had experience with any? I've narrowed it down to a few brands/models at Dell and Newegg after reading the reviews. Don't want to waste the money if they are worthless!
I also learned about a cooling pad that has no fan, I can't imagine that they would work but does anyone know anything about those?

newegg shell shocker is a laptop cooler today. didnt look much at it other than it is nice looking.
