Audio problem with Foxconn motherboard

edited August 2010 in Science & Tech
I have a friends old computer with a foxconn 661m Plus motherboard and can't get the onboard audio working. I've tried the ones off of foxconn's website but they do nothing i've even tried the realtek driver for ALC665, what the audio chip is. The device manager is not missing any devices and when I expand the audio tree it only has the audio codec, legacy codec stuff but nothing for the actual sound card. It has been infuriating me for a long time now and I just need a quick answer as to why i can't get it functioning

Thank

Check that the onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS. Otherwise, if it's not showing up in device manager and it is enabled in the BIOS, then I'd have to say the onboard audio is probably toast.

Thanks, but I found it out finally, the BIOS settings had the onboard audio set to EDM. All I needed to do was set it to PCI and it was good.
