I intend to use Windows 7 with the Boxee beta.

Linux Mint. 32-bit (unless you have over 4G of RAM obviously). Boxee if you feel so inclined otherwise XBMC works well for me.

Boxee has a few advantages over XBMC.

Like higher resource usage and more frequent crashes (in my experiences anyway)

Well it had the advantages of higher playback GPU optimization and better pluggin support as well. But after yesterdays XBMC announcement I rescind my comment. Stick with the newer version of XBMC.

I've been running elementpc on my media center pc for about 6 months now and haven't had any issues with it. works well with my harmony remote as well. http://www.elementmypc.com/
