Open Case Warning! A7N8X DELUXE revisited
I have an old A7N8X DELUXE and my power supply went south so I decided to replace the case as well with a Ultra m923 to accommodate my five 1TB HDD's and two DVD burners (and a floppy drive).
Anyway, I decided to install another DVD burner but had to add another PCI card because my new DVD burned was sATA and I was out of slots. But the dang AC97 plug was in the way, so seein' as how I had a separate sound card I didn't figure I needed that plugged in, and so yanked it.
I put everything back together and got that stupid OPEN CASE!!! bs and so cranked up my XP64 box and found your site via Google.
I'll probably never visit again but thought maybe someone could profit from my discovery, to wit: That AC97 plug is the culprit! Take yours out, tell it what for, and plug it back in. Maybe do it a couple times, stand up and pirouette, then stick it back it.
