Halo Reach vs Halo 2?

Who has played Halo: Reach so far? I'm waiting for my local Blockbuster video to get some copies back from rental so I can rent it and try it before I buy the game.

I hope it is good, but it's gonna have to be frickin' AMAZING to be better than Halo 2. I played Halo: Combat Evolved a little bit and it was okay, and I tried Halo 3, but I never liked 3. It seemed like they were so worried about fancy graphics that they forgot some of the really great Halo 2 maps like Ascension, Foundation, and Tombstone. I still miss Team Sniper games on Relic. As long as I've had my Xbox 360 and Halo 3 (about 2 years now), I don't think I've even played 200 games of 3 on it, I just did the campaign and lost interest in the Halo 3 maps quickly. Halo 2 on my original Xbox is more fun, because the controller layout is better.

I've seen the articles and Youtube clips that show Pinnacle being an almost exact copy of Ascension, and Hemmorage is pretty much the same as Coagulation, so I'm willing to give it a chance.

I still play Halo 2 in multiplayer with xbconnect.com , but the idiots setting up the games pick the most retarded setups, like only playing on Lockout with Battle Rifles. Lockout is a good map, but NOT ALL THE TIME, and I never did like Battle Rifles. I prefer full auto SMGs. And the games on xbconnect sometimes have lag problems.

I'd like to get some Halo 2 games on Tombstone with default weapons and default everything, but nnoooooooo, everyone wants to use battle rifles or plasma rifles or something stupid and I don't get a choice.:banghead:

And I don't have the patience to start a game by myself and wait for people to join it. I go and practice my super bounces on Ascension sometimes, and maybe someone joins, but that's about it.

That you think Halo 2 was the best of the franchise is worrisome.

I managed to get a rental copy today and have been playing it for a few hours. So far it is good. At least 4 Halo 2 maps are copied into Reach. Not 100% pixel-for-pixel copied, but rather "new version on an old scene" copied. Pretty much the same but a little different look.

Some different weapons, some the same, the assault rifle does pretty well for me.

So far I'm not sure if it is better than Halo 2, but it certainly is better than Halo 3.

I was just playing a game on the Reflection map. I forget the name of it in Halo 2 but the description said it was formerly the home of famous socialite Lance O'Donnell and now it is a public park. I used to always think "This was a home? HOW could it possibly be a home? There's nothing here but concrete walls and stuff!" Well now it looks like it actually may have been a home at one point, with nice wood floors and decorations and such things.

The DTR rifle is also not my favorite weapon, I prefer full automatic ones.

While I know it had to end like that it was still one of the worst endings I've ever seen in a video game. It's like Bungie didn't even try.

    What would you have preferred?

Halo Reach has better graphics and more realistic environment (as I see), better AI and more challenging fights (as my kids say), i.e. it is more fun. Our players here care more about when it ends rather than how it ends.

I noticed that our XBOX 360 warms up more while playing Halo Reach compared to Halo 3. Looks like the latest version is pushing the hardware more than the previous version.

I would have been ok if the second to last mission became the last and there was a cut scene of the Covenant glassing the planet. I got to the last mission and just set the controller down cause I knew right then it wouldn't be worth trying.
