LAPTOP WONT BOOT

when i boot up my dell laptop it goes to a white screen and gives a message Hard Disk #*************-595B,the system primary HDD,is protected by a password authentication system..WHAT DO I DO???

    We need a lot more information to help.

    What laptop model?
    What OS are you running?
    Did anything strange happen the last time you shut it down?
    What hard drive are you running?

    It is a dell latitude d600 with windows xp

    Ok, so we know the hardware now.

    If things were working just fine and suddenly you turn it on and you have this error, the hard drive died possibly.

    Or, someone set a password the last time it booted, possibly in the bios. You need to talk to whomever booted the machine the last couple times and ask some questions.

    Someone was talking about HDD not detected, I just wanted to get more info on it.

    Not detected means either bad HDD, bad connection from HDD to mobo, or bad mobo. In that order.
