Greetings,

Hello Icrontic. I have downloaded the new HJT and run it on my computer. I've notice that some of the 023-Service entry on my HJT log has a file missing. I just want to ask if it is ok to delete/fix those missing file entries. And may someone please review my attached HJT log file if it has no problem. Thanks in advance.:smiles:

I leave 023s alone on Windows 7/Vista. I'm not entirely sure HJT knows how to handle services on these versions of Windows.

I think this is your problem
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google Toolbar\GoogleToolbarUser_32.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe

And here is the cure (no wait, that was The Cure. Here is FF)

Back to seriousness: you have traces of two antivirus programs installed, and should only have one. Between AVG and McAfee, I think AVG actually tested better on the last AV comparatives, but I am not sure and don't want to go look it up.

Your version (2.0.2) may not be compatible, but the latest version (2.0.4) states that it is compatible with everything up to Windows 7. Maybe rescan with the latest and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies. I only have 1 anti-virus installed (AVG). The Mcafee on my HJT logfile was the McAfee Site Advisor. Well I have 2 IE installed (32 and 62bit). Does having two installed can generate a prob? try to download the new HJT and see what happens. Thanks again

Hello again. Here's the new logfile. There are still file missing on the logfile. Are there any more entries that I can delete safely. Thanks again in adavance.

I wouldn't worry about deleting anything else. The files it is claiming are missing are windows core services, so if they are missing, you would probably be seeing other issues. Check your system32 folder for those files to see if they are present or not, and check to see what kind of permissions are present.

Read someplace else...
If you're running 64Bit Windows, it can't recognize the 023 lines, so it will say 'file missing' ... don't mess with those
