Create full XP cd from OEM pre-install?
Hi,
Is it possible to create a full install CD for XP Home (SP2) from a pre-installed running system? If so, what is the easiest way?
I have an old HP desktop which came pre-installed (OS on C: and recovery partition on D: ) and, having collected numerous HDs over the years, am looking to move some of the disks around from one box to another.
Although this box/XP are rarely used, I would like to keep it as a backup and intend on keeping the OS on the same machine that it came with (i.e. not looking to do anything illegal), just with a smaller/slower HD in it.
As it stands now, the recovery partition & created disks wont allow me to select a different target drive for installation. I have read numerous bits of info all over the net listing various files to create an install CD from, but they all seem to differ slightly and, so, thought I would come ask in a place where I know I would get a sensible answer that I can trust
I did also dig up this old thread & wondered if the procedure here would still work for me? I have a legit OEM key on the side of the box.
Thanks, in advance, SV

I figured so
How about the other method (a la the link to old thread) of using/adapting a retail CD to get it to work with/accept an OEM key?
