Strange monitor & modem behaviour

I just wondering if someone can explain this to me before I go and pull everything apart under my desk to see for myself wtf is going on.

I have a DSL Speedstream 5200 modem, it has worked great up until 2 weeks ago. The problem is whenever I turn on either monitor, the power led on my modem changes from green to red, drops my connection and resets. My router always re-establishes communications within the minute but it's a complete pain in my rear.

Anyone explanations?

Edit - My computers are always on but I always turn off my monitor when I'm done.

move the modem power plug to a different socket.. You may be taxing the power there. shut something else off, like another pc and see if the issue continues...

Or get a small battery backup. They will shield the modem from "brownouts".

A simple filter might do. I could be either a surge or a spike. My guess is that either you moved something or the power section in you monitor is getting a little flakey.
