Nvidia Driver install causes BSOD on boot

Today I needed to swap out the graphics driver for my computer at work to try to fix an issue I was having with Maya- High Quality Rendering mode wouldn't enable. I asked a co-worker for their Nvidia driver version (HQ rendering works on his machine), tracked down the driver, and installed it.

It seemed everything went OK- I rebooted like you always have to on a Windows machine, and then my machine started BSOD-ing within minutes of loading Windows. It runs fine in safe mode. I've tried re-installing the latest version of the drivers and fully removing the drivers- system still falls over and dies. Furthermore, for whatever reason, my system won't connect to the server or the internet, so I can't really run anything to fix it. To compound the issue, System Restore won't load; I see it appear in the task manager but the UI does not appear.

Specs:
OS: Windows Vista (well there's my problem :rolleyes2)
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce NTX 295

Sorry that's all the specs I remember off the top of my head. :( The box is some sort of mid-level pre-built Dell.

Any suggestions or clever tricks? And unfortunately, format and reinstall is not an option.

Try DriverSweeper, remove the nvidia display drivers, install fresh? I don't beyond that. This sounds like there are more issues than a graphics problem.

Yeah, you have more issues at hand than a simple graphics driver problem.

UBCD or hiren's boot CD may be in order for testing HDD, CPU, etc.

Thanks, I'll try those. And if that doesn't work, I'll attempt to defenestrate* it.

    *Look it up.
