I may not stand in line to get one opening day, but I'll be trying to get one as early as possible. I am really eager to try using the 3D camera and the AR cards in my own house.

Yeah... I'll pass... not spending $250 on a novelty device (anything 3d is novelty at this point IMO). I still need to get a PS3 =/

I'm getting one. I've been waiting for this gameboy since I decided to get a DS almost two years ago, now. I said to myself: "Self, wait for the next big thing." I'm glad I did.

(I'll be turning 3D off. Glad that slider is there).

I'll grab one for sure. I'm still rocking the first gen DS, vintage.

Preordered on Amazon. Looking forward to some of the remakes (Ocarina of Time, anyone?) and a heaping helping of all the new stuff that's going to be available within the first year. I don't care so much about the 3D, though.

"the inclusion of a stereoscopic camera system. There are two cameras on the outside of the system’s body that are capable of taking stereoscopic 3D images that can be viewed on the 3D screen"

On a handheld gaming device? That's pretty fantastic.

to the guy saying its novelty he still needs to get a ps3 what a punk the ps3 is looking worse and worse as the months go by all people should own is a Wii/3DS because the wii has amazing games the best exclusives hands down i mean that it really does infact the 360 comes close but wii is on top so 3DS/Wii are the only systems worth owning soon trust me and Wii2 when that hits with its Armada quad core ill be 1st in line 4 that aswell the 3D isnt novelty its a feature along with about 10 others the 3DS has ect and in 2D mode the the frame rate goes up so its still a ultra powerful hardware even more so with out 3D mode turned on

Not many other areas of technology can pull in that sort of crowd. I'm talking about console gamers. Fanboys. They have no regard for proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar; so they make the rest of us look bad.

    1. I agree with ardichoke that it seems like a novelty item, especially being a handheld system; everyone is entitled to their opinion. I do like the new layout and I'm sure all the improvements make it better overall.

    2. I have all 3 of the current generation consoles and they all have their strong points. I play with my PS3 more than my 360 or Wii. For online gaming I'm mostly on 360, and when I'm playing with my friends at my house it's usually on Wii.

    3. Saying that one system has the best games is an opinion.

    4. What exactly is making the PS3 look worse? Sony has been releasing new hardware and content recently, not to mention it's the most powerful out of the three and great for a media center.

edit- Just to show how capable the PS3 really is, have you noticed how Sony was able to make the Playstation Move which essentially turns it into a Wii? Sure it doesn't have Mario but it's just proof at how adaptable it really is.

    5. lrn2punctuation, especially if you come on here and start name calling.

Even those that aren't impressed with the 3D display itself (it is a bit of a novelty thing, even I'll admit that), the new lineup of games and the improved graphical capabilities are fully worth it.

This thing handles graphics similar to what is seen on the Nintendo Gamecube. It's like what the previous NDS was to the N64: not quite as polished 3D or textures, but for what it's worth it looks great. In particular, the Kid Icarus game looked phenomenal. The 3DS also sports a higher resolution screen than the NDS.

Plus, a Star Fox 64 re-make. Played the demo for that, and it was a blast. The 3D effect was nifty, and the look of the targeting reticules going out into 3D space was cool and all, but it's the game itself I'm wanting.

And yes, the chance to play the classic Zelda 64: Ocarina of Time with a refreshment to the visuals is also high on my list.

Yes, it's more of Nintendo's milking of nostalgia, but whatever. They're fun games, and isn't that the point?

    shrugs

I finally got a DSi a few months back. 200 is the most I'd consider paying for a handheld gaming device. Fact of the matter is I just don't use them as much as actual consoles or PCs for gaming thus it is not worth the price tag to me. My ownership of the DSi just reinforces that. Sur...

I finally got a DSi a few months back. 200 is the most I'd consider paying for a handheld gaming device. Fact of the matter is I just don't use them as much as actual consoles or PCs for gaming thus it is not worth the price tag to me. My ownership of the DSi just reinforces that. Sure, I played it a bunch for the first couple weeks I had it. Since then though, it has been relegated to killing time when I'm not at home or don't have my laptop with me. Which isn't often at all.

As for the 3D display... yeah, it's neat but seriously I don't buy that this 3D crap is going to make a big difference. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but I doubt it. I'd much rather play a well made game with crappy graphics than some gimmicky, forgettable throwaway game with pretty shiny 3D.

I haven't played a console game in months, and the only (barely) modern console I have is a Wii. Portable gaming is great for me, as its nice to unwind in bed, on the go, in the car, bus, etc. Plus, it's cool.
