Transferring Data

My old computer crashed, HDD is still good however I bought a new computer using windows 7 and want to transfer data from old HDD to new HDD. Purchased an R-driver USB 2.0 to Sata/IDE Cable to transfer data but cannot get this to work. Are there any ideas out there that may suggest how to get this done.

    How does it not work? It should simply be plug and go. What happens?

    Nothing is working, Im not sure if it has anything to do with Win 7 or not everything is plugged in but nothing indicatesw what files I want to move.

    Does the hard drive even show up in Windows Explorer?

    The hard drive was working however it is not showing up when I go into my computer. This is so frustrating, I am beginning to wonder if the hdd crashed as well.
