Blackberry Messenger

Even though I’ve used a Blackberry for years, I never gotten around to purchase Blackberry service on it. So I never used the Blackberry Messenger. BB users keep telling me how awesome it is and how different that normal IM/texting. Now it’s coming to iPhone & Android. Won’t take away the exclusivity of it to BB users? Or am I on a wrong train of thought?:p

It's not that radically different but the transport mechanism is. It's routed via the carriers network and onwards into the RIM infrastructure. That adds things like compression, RIM level load balancing and the uniqueness of PINs.
Dummehs wanting to use BBM + swapping out BB's like crazy = hilarity. (BBM PINs are on the device, not the SIM/number)
"I sent...er...something...to x person, and y person got it. Is the server down?"
'Depends - what did you send?'
"Oh...it's not important, we can check it out whenever..." *runs away*
*entire IT dept chuckles*
I've been preaching this to my company for ages. I'm not a fan of BB.
