For the coming school I decided to change my crappy old laptop to a gaming laptop. My choices are ASUS G73 and the TOSHIBA Qosmio X505. I have a hard time since both almost have the same specs, difference is screen size. Any suggestions/experiences/recommendations?

I have a G73JH. The screen is great, but ASUS changed it out to a lesser display for other models. Also I'm about to send it in for RMA for the third time. First time was the display dying. Second time a hard drive died. This time is an ongoing issue with static/screeching coming from the speakers after playing a game or doing video work, and to have the thermal material reapplied. This most recent RMA is a common issue with G73 owners, and ASUS doesn't seem willing to find the cause of the problem and get a permanent solution together.
Another issue the G73 series has is the keyboard. It's terrible. Keystrokes are regularly missed and/or recognized out of order during the course of normal typing. ASUS's response? Type slower. It's the keyboard.

My advice: If it's between the ASUS and the Toshiba, go with the Toshiba.
