Ga-7n400 Pro2 rev 2 won't boot

I have installed a server OS (Ubuntu Server) on this machine and had left home for a while and when I came back it wouldn't boot it got stuck at "Verifying DMI Pool Data..." so I went into BIOS and restored failsafe defaults it then asked to setup RAID which I have no desire to do. So I then went back into BIOS and restored optimized defaults but it still tries to setup RAID which doesn't recognize my drive (40GB Seagate). Just want to boot the machine.
Thanks,
Clark

Thanks, but I did all that and it still goes to raid setup and doesn't detect anything there.

Did you try different cable, different port, checking if another computer can boot from that drive?

It recognizes the drive but doesn't boot to it. It tries to boot to raid which doesn't recognize the drive.

What is listed in your BIOS as boot order/options?

Did you try getting it to boot in another PC or run any HDD test from a bootable CD/USB like UBCD? Did you verify that your SATA type is either AHCI or compatibility mode (not RAID)?

    Looking at your manual...
    http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_7n400p2_e.pdf

Your 40G has to be plugged into IDE1 Then go into the "Standard CMOS Features Page" in the BIOS and make sure it shows up in IDE Primary Master. (Page 42)

Or if it is a 40G SATA... (My god did they even make those... :) )
In the Advanced Bios Features on (Page 45) set the "SCSI/RAID Cntlr Boot Order" to Serial ATA

Page 49 shows you how to set the onboard raid to ATA instead of RAID...
"Serial ATA Function to Base & GigaRAID Function to ATA"

Load Optimized or Fail Safe will set up RAID as Default.

Ok, I tried that and then it booted the same except after "Verifying DMA Pool Data.........." it said
"Boot to CD:" and then just hung there.
    Your continued support is appreciated.

Also, it is an IDE not a SATA.

Also, I plug the Drive into HDD-1 not IDE-1, right?
