Whats the Diff between a Gigabit switch and a Gigabit workgroup switch?

    generally the term workgroup refers to the low end of equipment. Workgroup network hardware will generally be unmanaged, barebones and .. well.... low end.

    There's four general tiers of network hardware: Home/SOHO, workgroup, midrange (managed) and enterprise (managed). Keep in mind that these are very generalized groupings and those lines are blurry with certain product lines.
