Probably means Adept, Engineer, and Sentinal will be limited to two, and Vanguard and Infiltrator will have three.
Hope that's exclusive of the heavy weapon otherwise two slots seems a bit miserly (Adepts/engies/sentinals got heavy pistols, SMGs and heavy weapons in ME2).
Ash returning is great, one of the few characters who wasn't psychotic/stupid/whiny as fuck (I'm looking at you <del>Carth</del> Kaiden) and was actually useful in combat.
I've just purchased and have been playing the previous two. I'm noooooot sure how I missed out on this franchise... but I am freaking in love. Gonna be really disappointed for the story to end.
Why does everyone run away from Shepard when the games end? You would think he could just call them up on his holophone and get the band back together.
It'll be something else. Every game had one crappy mechanic - ME1 had Mako driving, ME2 had planet scanning. ME3 will be something like growing your own ammunition.
The new one is most likely some sperm minigame where you try and impregnate whomever you sleep with... IN SPACE!!! Good luck with the inter-species relationships!

My female leads outnumber my male lead playthroughs 5 or 6 to 1, usually. I'm playing a male warrior through DA2 right now and I just keep wishing my character was a female rogue again.
I think my current ME2 playthrough is with a male Shepard, but my two or three previous were females. I think subconsciously it's because I know it's not like I'd get really immersed as a hulky dude, so I may as well go fully the opposite and play as a chick.
Or maybe I just like lesbian relationships in BioWare games.
I've played it through a couple of times as each and IMO the most significant differences are attached to your characters chest.
Voice acting/pronoun swap and who Shephard can hit on is the height of it, your pre-service history, psych profile and even morality have more influence on gameplay.
Still, better than KotOR2 where you had to go male to get the handmaiden/avoid the disciple.
I always choose a female protagonist when the option is given. I never get immersed deeply enough in interactive fiction to think of the protagonist as "me" anyway, so if I'm going to be spending upwards of 120 hours watching the exploits of this protagonist, I may as well take the more visually pleasing option, especially considering how high a percentage of that time is going to be spent watching that character run around from behind.
To me the character selection screen is asking "Whose ass do you want to stare at for hours on end?"
The exception to this for me is when Betsy and I play an RPG together. In these cases, she specifically requests that I choose a male avatar.
Definitely the voice acting that makes the difference.

Notice how you can actually listen to one and the other makes you huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrr

For a massive orgy of alien sexytime?
In.
fufufufufufufuuuuuuuu.. Please tell me they do away with that crap.
Though planet scanning can just DIAF, even being able to probe Uranus couldn't save it.

fix't. Related, did you see the destructoid article from 2009 about playing as a female shepard? I actually read that first and haven't played as a male shepard yet... http://www.destructoid.com/love-hate-a-plea-to-play-as-a-female-shepard-157515.phtml
