Sure. Hadn't really considered it mainly because it's turn based, but I can take a look and see what's what.
I believe other sites mostly use the built-in benchmarks, of which there is a late game version. Not sure if those capture camera movement, though, which is where I'm more likely to experience lag.

Yep. The benchmark tool was pointed out in IRC last night. Documentation for the tool says camera movement does affect the outcome. Unfortunately I don't know of a way to capture that movement for consistent testing between systems.
I think the idea is to just not move the camera for the built-in benchmarks. It's not as realistic as actual gameplay, but still useful, and comparable to other benchmarks out there.
Maybe somebody could make a benchmark mod, with Python scripts to move the camera between two points, and FRAPS to count the frames.

I'd like to see things like how long inter-turn times are during the late game. I don't know how standardizable that is, though.
