Windows/system32/config/system.. help pleasee

edited April 2011 in Hardware
Hi the other week my computer wouldn't turn on and gave me the error message along the lines of: 'Windows/system32/config/system'.
Since then i've tried multiple fixes and none have worked. I bought a disk with all the data on it from eBay that has been proved to work for this error, but when I put it in I found out the cd drive would not read disks, nor would it open, I managed to open it with a paperclip and put the disk in, and it shuts fine when I press the eject button... and the light flashes up and it makes sounds like its reading a disk... then while the disk is loading the sound stops and the light goes off, and I get the error again. Is there anything you can do to help me?
thanks

If your CD drive is not working (and therefore, you are unable to boot from it), you will not be able to fix this. You can test whether or not it is bootable by getting the ISO version of Memtest 86+ or UBCD. If it can boot from those CDs, follow the instructions here to a T.
